Welcome to femme unfiltered. This website is all about an unfiltered look at the life of a woman juggling the many roles we women take on. Here, you will find stories of empowerment and survival, success and joy. All of this you will see through the lens of a wild woman, wife, and mother born and bred in California. Here’s a little about me:
I am a woman in my late thirties (hello there forty! I’m looking at you!) with an insane amount of facets to my life here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I work outside my home as an English and History tutor and teacher. At home, I work as a writer. And 24 hours, wherever I am, I work as a mother.
I am a wife to a handsome and funny man who sells beer (I prefer wine. Sorry honey.) and is working on getting his Bachelor’s degree while also helping me raise our two (so far) kids. I am a mother to those two kids I just mentioned, both girls, a five year old and an infant. Joyfully, I have just begun the interesting task of homeschooling our daughter, which I plan to do until at least high school with both (all?) of our children.
In the middle of all of that I pursue my mini passions like drinking coffee, meeting friends at a variety of locations around the Bay Area, traveling, drinking more coffee, running and doing yoga, seeing the latest movies, both big budget (with someone) and independent (usually alone), drinking wine, cooking, finding new recipes, experimenting with new recipes, drinking more wine, and last but certainly not least, reading! Books, magazines, blogs, online journals and newspapers, you name it, I love to read, and I love to talk about what I read.
Oh, and in the middle of all of that, I’m trying to help make my country and my planet a peaceful and wonderful place to live in. You know, the little stuff.
All of these roles take me into various aspects of craziness and silliness. Because writing is a primary source of joy for me, I write about all that craziness and silliness, mostly in an attempt to organize it all. So here you will find my most honest, “unfiltered,” take on managing an urban life. You’ll find my thoughts and recommendations on local eateries (and drinkeries), play places, parks and playgrounds, museums. Also, you’ll get my workout tips on equipment and gear, wines, coffees, time saving ideas, energy saving ideas, recipes for both sweet and savory, and finally, personal interest pieces on friends, family, and soon, strangers!
A primary goal for me, both personally and professionally, with my writing is to help empower women, help them see their strengths, and help women see each other as allies, as friends, sisters, and links in a chain. I believe that we are stronger together, and if my website does anything, I hope it does that, brings women together. Let’s laugh over coffee and wine together, cry over nostalgic or painful moments together. We can put our heads together to make the world a better place for our kids, our family, our legacies.
If you follow this site, you will learn all about me figuring out how to be the best woman, wife, and mother that I can be, occasionally failing, but mostly succeeding. I hope.
